Summer 2008 Information for Principles of Chemistry

	GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES. 3-ring binder calculator pencils – LOTS of pencils
	THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO DO AS A PROJECT. You will have to do at least one during the school year.   THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE.  Use your Chemagination. This is a multi-component contest.  Think about 25 years into the future.  Write an article about a chemistry related innovation and design a cover for ChemMatters magazine.  Also, create a related poster for an oral presentation about your idea.  Click here for information.

CREATE A POSTER.

The theme for 2008 is "Having a Ball with Chemistry."  Read the preliminary announcement here.

WRITE A SCIENCE SONG.

It's not too early to write a song to enter in next year's contest.  Click here to get to contest page. You will be able to see and listen to the winners from previous years. Also, click on the link there to get more information about the contest.  They do not run this contest every year, but I am checking into it.

GROW A CRYSTAL.

Enter a "largest crystal" growing contest.  Information will be distributed when it becomes available.

VOLUNTEER.

Be a student demonstrator at the National Chemistry Week Celebration kick-off at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison.  This event is on a Sunday.  This is a terrific community service opportunity.
