Adela J. Dziekanowski has 40 years of middle school and high school teaching experience.  She earned a B.A. in Chemistry from Montclair State College  and an M.S. in Applied Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

She served as President of New Jersey Science Teachers Association, the first Co-Director of the New Jersey Science Olympiad, and the first Chairperson of the NJSTA Maitland P. Simmons Memorial Award Committee.  She was elected a Fellow of NJSTA, recognized with a Special Award from NJSTA, and was honored with the NJSTA Citation Scroll, awarded to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to science education.  She is currently serving as NJSTA's Webmaster.

She was a Master Teacher for the
New Teachers’ Institute at Rutgers University and recently enjoyed serving as a selector for the Woodrow Wilson New Jersey Teaching Fellowships.  She was a member of the steering committee for the New Jersey Science Convention and currently manages online services for the organization.

She is enjoying her quiet life in South Carolina and her opportunity to read a book uninterrupted by lesson planning and grading.  She is exploring new interests, taking local arts and crafts classes and short courses as USC-AIken's Academy for Lifelong Learning, is learning about quilting with the help of the Carolina Pine Quilters, and is enjoying learning more about the Earth and the universe as a member of the Aiken Gem, Mineral and Fossil Society and the Astronomy Club of Augusta.

Science is not just about knowledge, and not just for scientists; it's a roller-coaster ride through the ultimate in mind-boggling experiences - and best of all, it's open to everyone.  (Richard Dawkins)
